Everyone’s doing it-Facebook or Twittering. These sites are all the rage and they are not just social networking sites but they can also benefit businesses like yours. Celebrities, people, and even businesses are now using Facebook and Twitter as a means of communicating but communicating in a different way. Using Facebook and Twitter and other social networking sites can attract more business to your company by making it widely available and known via these networks. Facebook can be used as a means of advertising, marketing, social networking and building a massive fan base. When you’ve gained one customer from Facebook or Twitter you could gain hundreds because there are as many as 500 million users on Facebook alone. Think of how many people 500 million users know. Imagine the amount of business you could attract with a number like this! Also Twitter generates over 26 million users adding to your growing business. Your business can have its own profile on Facebook. Facebook and Twitter are no longer solely available for teenagers; you could use them as a marketing tool. Consider the following statistics provided by O’Reilly Media. Between September 2008 and February 2009: 

  • ·                        The number of Facebook users between ages 35 and 44 increased by 51%
  • ·                        Facebook users among the ages 45-54 grew by 47%
  • ·                        Facebook users ages 26-34 increased by 26%

When you create your facebook page, you will be given three options. You will be asked if your page is about a local business, a brand or a product, or an artist, band or public figure (celebrity). Which are you? This depends on what product you want to promote. You can choose whether you want to add basic or detailed information or contact details. It really is that simple to start your very own page for your business and see how many potential customers you could gain. When you start, you will either create a page or a group. You will gain more exposure from a Facebook page as unregistered users can view it, whereas a group can only be viewed by registered Facebook users. You can also use Twitter as a way of uploading information to other Twitter users to see and gain more followers.
